Doctrinal Statement

The following statements do not exhaust the depth of our beliefs.  In all areas, we seek to honor God’s teaching as passed down to us through His Holy Scripture.  These statements, therefore, serve to guide us in seeking God’s direction for ourselves and His church.

THE GODHEAD – We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. Each person of the Godhead works together, in perfect union, to bring about the work of redemption. (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; John 14:10, 26; 2 Cor 13:14)

  • The Father
  • The Son:
    • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isa 7:14, 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor 5:19-21; Gal 4:4-5; Phil 2:5-8)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead on the third day. (Acts 2:18-36; Romans 3:24-25; Eph 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5, 2:24)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Rom 8:34; Heb 7:25, 9:24; 1 John 2:1-2)
  • The Holy Spirit
  • We believe the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11; Rom 8:9; 1 Cor 12:12-14; 2 Cor 3:6; Eph 1:13-14)
  • We believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Teacher who assists believers to understand and live out the Holy Scriptures. (Eph 1:17-18, 5:18; 1 John 2:20,27)
  • We believe that each believer is filled with the Holy Spirit at the moment of confession that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.  Furthermore, the Holy Spirit equips each believer with gifts that are used to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Eph 1:13; Rom 8:9-11; 1 Cor 12:4-11)

THE BIBLE – We believe the Bible is the holy word of God.  It is divided into the Old and New Testaments, and both are inspired by God and are therefore without error, infallible, God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.  We further acknowledge that while each of the books of the Bible was written by a human author they did so under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

SALVATION AND ETERNAL SECURITY

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins.  We believe that Jesus died for all sins.  (Matt 12:31-32; John 1:12; Eph 1:7. 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:9)

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Rom 8:1, 38-39; 1 Cor 1:4-8; 1 Peter 1:4-5)

THE CHURCH

We believe that the church is the body of Christ and Jesus is the head of the church. It is

committed to the teachings of Christ, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world.

While the local church is free to align itself with any organization, it is autonomous of external authority or control.  As such, the local church is free to devise its own rules in accordance with Scripture. (Acts 15:19-31)

We believe that Jesus instituted two ordinances that His church is expected to continue; Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

  • Baptism is reserved for those who have consciously, and publicly, confessed Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior.  We believe that the Biblical mode of baptism is done by immersion whenever possible.
  • The Lord’s Supper is reserved for those who have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  The table is open to all who believe.  We respectfully ask those who have not confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to refrain from partaking.

MARRIAGE

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution, initiated by God, that reflects the relationship between Jesus Christ and His bride, the Church.  God created mankind, male and female, and them to each other in marriage.  It is for this reason; a man shall leave his mother and father and be joined to his wife.  As such, we hold that a godly marriage can only exist between one biological man and one biological woman.

SANCTITY OF LIFE

We believe that God created mankind in His image, and as such, all life is precious to God. Furthermore, we hold that life begins at the moment of conception, and any action to prematurely ends life is detestable to God. (Gen 1:27; Prov 6:16-19)
